South Jersey professionals will be spending a month in Northern Italy meeting officials, business leaders and locals to share ideas as part of the Rotary Foundation’s commitment to giving back to the community. In 1965, the Rotary Foundation launched a new endeavor called the Group Study Exchange (GSE) program. Its goal was to develop professional skills and leadership qualities among young adults. Today, GSE has proven to be extremely successful giving young professionals the opportunity to address the needs of their communities while building lasting business relationships in the global workforce. This year, men and women from the United States and Italy will participate in the four week exchange, which includes an extensive and rigorous itinerary of international travel and activities.  South Jersey's Rotary Foundation launches GSE program to aid young professionals

The Rotary Foundation’s mission is “to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty.”

I am extremely honored to have been invited to partake in this amazing opportunity and join the United States’ team- which is made up of Anna Brudnicka, Nathaniel Young, Maria Pinardo and team leader, Ken Landis.

The team members for the Italian team are Danielle Castelli, Elisabetta Colombo, Giacomo Mainetti, Giulia Centonze and team leader Maria Letizia Baldini

Before the US team travels to Italy, the Italian team visited the United States. The Rotary Clubs in South Jersey hosted the Italian team and showed them the Garden State during their month-long stay. They toured the area, visited wineries, wind farms, the motorsports park, local businesses and historical landmarks. During their stay in South Jersey, the Italian team also visited Philadelphia, Washington DC and New York City.

Hosted by Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, both the Italian and US team had time to talk about their homelands as well as their personal and professionals lives. Both teams enjoyed dinner on property at EVO Restaurant and Bar. The visiting team experienced many Jersey Shore traditions from shopping and gambling to walking down the world famous Atlantic City boardwalk to spending time on the beach and of-course in the Atlantic Ocean.

The US team is currently preparing for their upcoming month-long stay in Northern Italy, where they will visit several towns including Sondrio, Milano, Lecco and Bormio.
