Rash of Shootings In Philadelphia Monday Night Including One at a Basketball Game

There were several shootings in Philly Monday night, including a horrific shooting at a basketball game in the Kingsessing neighborhood, where hundreds of people were in attendance. In all – six people were shot at the summer league basketball game in the Kingsessing neighborhood. Fortuntately nobody was killed. One person was critically wounded though. The apparent target was one of the six innocent bystanders who were shot by an unidentified gunman.

In all – four shootings happened Monday night and were reported within a 1-hour span! The other shootings went down in Frankford, West Philly, and Hunting Park.

Arlene Ackerman Steps Down as Philadelphia School Superintendent

After being under fire for her job performance, Arlene Ackerman accepted a $905,000 buyout to step down as Philadelphia School Superintendent.

Ackerman received $500,000 from the struggling city and $400,000 from private donars assembled by Mayor Nutter.

Ackerman’s enormous salary of $350,000 put her in the crosshairs of many critics, especially considering the desperate financial situation of the Philadelphia School District is in. It’s a disgrace for anyone in Philadelphia’s government to make nearly as much as the President of the United States, let  alone someone in charge of a failure of a school system.

It’s a disgrace that she is walking away with nearly $1 million considering the fact that the Philadelphia School District is facing a budget deficit of $430 million next fiscal year.

Ackerman is yet another example of the ridiculous double-standard, which epitomizes the Philadelphia government. While they struggle to provide essential services for the citizens – they pay outlandish salaries to overpaid pseudo-leaders like Ackerman who just sit around collecting paychecks, while failing to deliver any results.

Ackerman’s legacy will be her willingness to accept a 4% payraise and refusing to release salary data of her cohorts, while the city’s school system was and is in complete shambles.

Moammar Gadhafi’s Compound Stormed By Rebels

CNN is reporting that Libyan rebels have gotten inside of Moammar Gadhafi’s main military compound in Tripoli. There is no word if he’s inside or if he escaped yet. They also claim they have gotten inside of his main living quarters.

According to U.S. authorities – Libyan dictator Mommar Gadhafi hasn’t left Libya yet, but there is also no sign of him. The Pentagon told CNN that they believe Gadhafi is still in the country.

At this point – Gadfhafi’s 42-year reign of dominance on Libya is about to end as his forces are on the ropes against Libyan rebel forces.

Now, the rebel forces have hoisted a flag over his home and are celebrating their latest victory.
