Eagles vs Giants: The Grades

In their last game ever at the Meadowlands, the Eagles rolled up 45 points, and virtually clinched a playoff spot. Barring an unforeseen collapse over the final three weeks of the season, the Eagles are headed back to the postseason for the eighth time in 11 years and are gearing toward their sixth NFC East title in the past nine years.

As this Eagles season continues on with the weekly beatings of bad teams and the one loss to a good team, there are some concerns the team needs to address sooner rather than later. Let’s start on the offensive side of the ball where the future looks brighter every week with the emergence of Jeremy Maclin to team with DeSean Jackson at wide receiver and Brent Celek at tight end. One of the first things the team needs to do off the field is get fullback Leonard Weaver’s name on a long-term contract.

Kevin Curtis could be the next Wally Pipp. Curtis' variety of injuries, the latest is a sore knee, kept him out of the lineup and gave rookie Jeremy Maclin his first NFL start. It may not be his last. Maclin could keep the job if and when Curtis is healthy. Maclin and DeSean Jackson give the Eagles a set of young, explosive receivers, something the team has not had in some time.
